And while there is some immediate improvement, Sculptra will continue to work subtly, improving contours over a 2 to 6 month period so you avoid the obvious, telltale overnight changes that can occur with cosmetic surgery.
Depending on the result you want to achieve, treatments may be required every 4 to 6 weeks, over a 2 to 6-month period. Much like the other dermal fillers at our Sarasota practice, these treatments take only about 45 minutes and there is no downtime. Any slight bruising or swelling that may occur from the injections lasts only a few days.
Sculptra is made from tiny particles of poly-L-lactic acid (PLA) that are diluted in a suspension of sterile water. The solution is carefully injected into the skin after the face is numbed, then molded for an optimal result. As the particles of PLA break down, they stimulate the formation of collagen, which over time adds volume to the skin, filling in scars and wrinkles, and providing a more youthful appearance in people with aging, wrinkling, and loss of facial fat.
Sculptra can also be used in areas of depression that occur after liposuction, the back of the hands where there is a loss of fat, and for deep lines in the upper chest. FDA approved, Sculptra has been used successfully in Europe for more than a decade.
