Breast Augmentation in Sarasota

Breast augmentation enhances the size and shape of the breasts. If your breasts are naturally small, unequal in size, have become markedly smaller after pregnancy, or sag as a result of aging, you could benefit from breast augmentation at Sarasota Plastic Surgery Center.

With more than 60 years of combined experience, our 4 board-certified plastic surgeons offer breast augmentation to women from St. Petersburg, Tampa, Clearwater, Bradenton, Ft. Myers and the entire Southwest Florida region.

Your Improvements

The doctors at Sarasota Plastic Surgery Center perform breast augmentation with a delicate touch and an aesthetic eye for balance and symmetry. A properly performed breast enlargement can result in an enhanced silhouette and improved confidence. The experience and training of board-certified plastic surgeons is critical to successful results from this procedure.

During your consultation, your surgeon will describe the surgery and help you decide between silicone and saline breast implants. Your Sarasota surgeon can give you a more complete improvement by combining breast augmentation with other breast sculpting procedures such as a breast lift, correction of inverted nipples, enlargement of small nipples and reduction of large areolas or overly prominent nipples.

Younger patients will be pleased to know that since the breast implants go behind their own breast tissue, the nipples will still function and allow nursing.

Are You a Good Candidate?

To be a good candidate for any plastic surgery, you must have realistic expectations about what the procedure can do for you. It’s important to understand that breast augmentation can enhance your appearance and self-confidence, but like all plastic surgery, it is not going to solve underlying emotional issues you may have. Always think carefully about your expectations and discuss any concerns with your surgeon.

Next Steps

All successful surgeries begin with open and honest communication between doctor and patient. Are you considering plastic surgery? Request a consultation with one of the surgeons at Sarasota Plastic Surgery Center, or call (941) 366-8897 and let us educate you about your options and the procedures available.

I’m 5’3, weight 110, bra size small B cup. Can I realistically achieve the look and size of Kate Upton? (Photo)

Kate Upton is a supermodel so using her for your goal breasts is probably unrealistic. That does not mean you can’t achieve an excellent result based on YOUR preoperative breast shape and size, chest measurements, skin elasticity and desired size.

I would recommend having some flexibility in your desire for a DD-cup as this may be hard to achieve at your height of 5’3″ without making you look like you have gained weight. A full D-cup breast will be ample on someone with your somewhat smaller frame. Also, consider using shaped implants or high profile implants to achieve a larger breast size that does not appear too wide.

Rather than trying for a specific cup size, work with a board certified plastic surgeon to achieve your goal of very large, full, youthful breast with a natural appearance. They will look great on YOU which is what really matters. If they happen to also look like Kate Upton’s breasts, all the better!

When Does Swelling After Breast Augmentation Begin to Subside?

Swelling After Breast Augmentation Improves By Three Weeks, Is Almost All Gone by Three Months

After your breast augmentation the swelling increases for the first 4 days and peaks on the 5th day and will add about 20% to the overall size. On the 5th day you will usually notice there is a definite upper breast fullness and the breasts will feel firm. The pectoralis muscle may also be in spasm pushing the implants up like a push-up bra. Most patients will ask about whether all of this is normal. I tell them the following timeline

  • 3 weeks – 80% of the swelling goes away and the implants will begin to soften and drop
  • 3 months – by 3 months 90% of the swelling is gone and the implants are much softer. It is OK to buy bras that fit your new breasts.

I will usually see patients 2-3 months after surgery to make sure they are happy with the final result.

How Do You Massage Breasts After Breast Augmentation?

This Is How To Do Breast Massage Correctly In Order To Help Breast Implants Soften and Drop!

Although implant massage is not endorsed by all plastic surgeons, with smooth implants it seems to be helpful for improving implant mobility and softness. I do not start massage until one week after surgery because of soreness. I have the patients perform the following 5 movements twice each day which takes only 6 – 7 minutes each session.

Moving the Implant In a Downward Direction:

- Start with the opposite hand stiffened, palm facing the breast with the little finger one inch above the nipple at the 12 o’clock position. In a wiping motion wipe the skin up and push in toward the chest. This will create pressure and stretch on the fold beneath your breast and pinch the implant downward. Hold in place for a count of 20. Repeat this a second time for 20 seconds
- Move the same hand to the 10 o’clock position and repeat the same wiping motion twice for 20 seconds each
- Move the same hand to the 2 o’clock position and repeat the same wiping motion twice for 20 seconds
- Moving the Implant In an Upward Direction (I usually start these after 2 months when the implants are more mobile)

  1. Start with the opposite hand, stiffened, palm facing the breast with the index finger at the level of the nipple at the 6 o’clock position. Push straight in toward your chest wall causing the implant to glide upwards. Hold your hand against the chest (or as close as you can get) for 20 seconds. Repeat once more.
  2. Move your hand to the 4 o’clock position (slightly toward the outer aspect of the lower breast) and perform the same motion twice.

That’s it! Do this twice each day until your doctor has you stop or change.

Things to remember:

  1. There is no proof that massaging the breast does anything.
  2. If your breast begin to get sore, decrease to once per day or stop for a few days
  3. If you miss a day or two, don’t worry. Nothing will happen.
  4. This is one way to perform these movements which has helped my patients for 20 years, but there are others that work.

Can I Make My Boobs Bigger Using Pills or Creams?

Breast Augmentation Works Extremely Well! Pills and Creams Don’t!

Forget about the pills and creams. They will not give you the improvement you are looking for. As you suspected, hormones can have side effects that are dangerous such as blood clots. For the most part these are gimmicks designed to give you false hope

Your best approach is to find a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS certified) that does breast augmentation weekly and has a good reputation and have them perform a breast augmentation. If money is a problem consider, financing your breast augmentation. Many plastic surgeons now have financing options such as Care Credit.

Almost all women are happy with their larger breasts and get a big boost in self-esteem and confidence.

Breast Augmentation Recovery: What Can I Expect?

Recovery from breast augmentation takes one or two weeks and depends on several factors including tightness of the breast skin, whether the implant is over or under the pectorals muscle and the size and therefor pressure caused by the implant.

Most patients can return to most normal activities and stop pain medication by the end of the second day after surgery. More strenuous exercise and heavy lifting greater than 20 pounds should wait about 2 – 3 weeks.

Pain after breast enlargement usually requires management with pain medication usually only the first two days. After that I find most patients either don’t need any treatment for pain or can take Advil or Tylenol for the remaining soreness

Important points:

  1. Mothers she can lift their children.
  2. Activities involve jerking or violent motions can lead to complications.
  3. I find patients recover more quickly, if they get moving.

Important Breast Augmentation Recovery Points!

  1. Most implants look high for the first few weeks then the implants settle and look more natural over the first two months
  2. Scars fade over the first 6 – 12 months
  3. Breast augmentation works very, very well and most patients are happy after just one surgery.
  4. Future surgery may be required to replace the implants or correct drooping. The timing on this varies widely but should be at 15 – 20 years.

Finally, and probably most importantly, have a consultation and find out all the facts from a real, board certified plastic surgeon
